Position: Mental
Health Technician Number

Establish
a therapeutic relationship with assigned clients. Responsible for the
overall guidance, direction, and supervision of clients. The ideal
candidate will perform routine duties in the care, education, and
treatment of clients including: overseeing physical care, development
of acceptable habits and attitudes, management of client behavior and
assisting them in reaching their goals and objectives of their treatment
plan.
This
position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience in an
adolescent mental health facility is required. Work hours are on a
rotating 12-hour shift schedule from 6pm to 6am.

The ideal candidate will provide
in-home counseling services including case management, individual
counseling, group counseling, family counseling, substance abuse,
crisis evaluations, assessments, interviews clients to obtain pertinent
information including psychiatric, social, educational, and vocational
history; makes field visits to evaluate clients to determine needs for
services; assists clients in obtaining suitable services; cooperates
with other agencies and professionals to coordinate services for mutual
clientele. Participate in interdisciplinary team reviews for
collaborative assessment and treatment planning to ensure quality care;
conducts social, recreational, or occupational skill development in
accordance with the treatment plan; observes, reports and documents to
licensed staff observations of client’s behaviors; confers with
licensed staff regarding needed services and referrals to other
community agencies. Monitor and maintain all program communication and
client documentation, i.e., client record, log entries, incident
reports, phone/written communication to supervisor, families and to
external bodies, as appropriate. Provide documentation on client
activity according to established departmental guidelines under
supervision of licensed professional staff.
This position
requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or
university in a human services field or a related field of study, and
at least one year of experience in a social work or human services
organization. An Associate’s Degree from an accredited
college or university in a human services field or a related field of
study, and at least two years of experience in a social work or human
services organization. The ideal
candidate must meet all state requirements regarding criminal record
history, central registry search and possess a valid Virginia
Driver’s license and a good driving record.
